What are the live performance opportunities offered?
The 4th and 5th Grade Bands at Willard put on two concerts every year: one in the Winter, and one in the Spring. These concerts are open to the public; family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend! They also serve as an opportunity for students to have the experience of performing for a live audience and showcasing what they have learned on their instruments.
In addition to the concerts, the 5th graders are given the opportunity to play at a Berlin High School Football game and a Hartford WolfPack game - both of which are AMAZING opportunities!
What is the time commitment outside of school?
Students who participate in band are expected to practice their instruments at home for the amount of time assigned by Mr. Chef.
All rehearsals and lessons are worked into the regular school day. There are no practices outside of school except for 5th who choose to participate in the football game in the Fall (one evening rehearsal).
